Manchester United secured a crucial Champions League victory against FC Copenhagen, with Harry Maguire and Andre Onana as the standout performers of the night.


In a match where United was in desperate need of a win after earlier losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in Group A, the pressure was on. Fans believed they deserved a penalty around the hour mark when Marcus Rashford appeared to be brought down in the area, but the decision went against them.


However, the breakthrough eventually came for Erik ten Hag's side in an unexpected manner. Christian Eriksen delivered a pinpoint cross, finding Harry Maguire at the back post. Maguire expertly headed the ball into the net from close range, marking his first goal of the season in just his fourth start.


Copenhagen didn't give up and kept pushing for an equalizer, looking dangerous for much of the match. Their big opportunity arrived in second-half stoppage time when Scott McTominay's high boot collided with the head of Elias Achouri, resulting in a penalty for the Danish side. The responsibility to equalize fell to Jordan Larsson, son of former Manchester United loanee Henrik Larsson.


However, Andre Onana proved to be the hero of the night as he made an excellent save to deny Larsson's effort to his left. Seconds later, the full-time whistle blew, securing the vital victory for Manchester United.


This win is a significant boost for United after their earlier struggles in continental competition. They have climbed to third place in their Champions League group, still trailing leaders Bayern by six points and sitting just one point behind Galatasaray. The victory provides hope for their European campaign and eases some of the pressure on the team.
