HERE WE GO: Chelsea agree deal on a sensational Superstar, agreement reached till 2031 as player will be unveil Today.
Pedro Neto has spoken for the first time since Chelsea confirmed his £54million move from Wolves.
The 24-year-old, who was introduced to the Chelsea supporters at half-time during their final pre-season friendly against Inter Milan, has joined the Blues on a seven-year contract and will begin training with his new teammates at Cobham in the coming days. Neto scored three goals and added 11 assists in just 24 appearances last season.
And now, after signing a long-term deal in west London, Neto has admitted he is buzzing to get started. “I feel really grateful to have joined this club,” Neto told the Chelsea club website. “I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.”
Having started his career at Braga, Neto was sent out on loan to Lazio for two years in August 2017 but he didn’t make his senior debut until 16 months later. He made just four first-team appearances for the Serie A club before making a switch to Wolves under Nuno Espirito Santo in 2019.
He quickly established himself as a regular in the Wolves attack and played 79 matches, scoring 10 goals before suffering a serious knee injury against Fulham in April 2021. Since then, Neto has endured a rocky last three years. In fact, the Portugal international has missed a staggering 102 matches in that time. To put that into context, Neto has played just 56 games after recovering from that knee problem.
When he is available, however, Neto is an elite Premier League footballer and can be unplayable on his day. To produce just 14 direct goal contributions in 24 matches last season does say it all. If Chelsea can keep Neto fit then they have a top talent on their hands.
